How to color a drawing in Adobe Photoshop? How do I color a drawing in photoshop even if I don't have a a fancy tablet? I have Photoshop Elements 8. I'm a novice at Photoshop in general, so if you could specify what buttons to press or whatever and their function, it'd be really helpful.

What are you trying to do?

Your post doesn't really explain what you are trying to do with "How to colour a drawing". Both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements are mainly for photo editing/manipulation.

If you want to learn to use Photoshop Elements I would suggest you buy a book to help to teach yourself with.

If I understand that you want to colour in a drawing like in a childs colouring book then this is relativley simple. As Kev mentions the easiest way is to select the area you want to colour using one of the selection tools. The magnetic lasso tool is good if you have well defined edges but experiment to see what worjks best.

Once you have selected the area you want select a brush. Again there is a large choice with various effects and opacities so experiment to see which suits your purpose best. Then select the colour you want and paint over the selected area.

Its quite hard to describe the process without having a copy of PS in front of me. I use PS a lot but even now don't know the names of all the tools just what they do.

I would advise taking a look on Youtube as there are thousands of tutorials on there that are great for learning. Also Adobes website has many excellent tutorials as well. I find both of these sources more use than a book these days especially if there is a particular technique i want ot use.
